Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

John 14:6

If you prayed to accept Jesus as your personal savior you have begun your new life. You will soon want to be baptized to signify that you are following Christ who "baptizes with the Holy Ghost". It symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus as well as your death to your "old man" and your being resurrected to newness of life in Christ.

"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." Matthew 28:18-20

As a child of God you will also want to continue in the study of The Bible, God's Holy Written Word, in order to nourish your Spirit, strengthen your faith, and learn God's will for your life. His written word is one of God's main ways of speaking to His children.

"It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Matthew 4:4

God has also given us direct access to him through Christ in prayer.

"Jesus said, If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." John 15:7

Jesus knew we would not be able to understand all things or to bear all our trials without help. So He promised us that He would not leave us ever, (see Matthew 28:20) This promise is kept by sending us the Holy Spirit as a comforter and guide.

"I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear (from God), that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.

You will want to love God and praise Him so that your joy in Him will be full.

" Jesus said ... Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thy self." Matthew 22:37-39

You will want to find a body of believers to worship with, learn from,  and share the love of the Lord and the power of  prayer with.

"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching" Hebrews 10:25
